My Review-

There are some movies to me show how amazing of an actor that Tom Hanks is, and for me they are some of his live action films. Do not get me wrong he is really Awesome in the Toy Story Franchise, but his films where you can see him act are the ones where you can really see him show his emotional side, or his angry side. For me it was 3 films, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and my favorite Tom Hanks film ever, Philadelphia. Now I can add one more movie to that list, this one. This movie showed how he did not need any other actors to bounce off on, just plain and simple him on an island, to show what it is like for a man alone of four long years, and how it can take its toll on someone who is thrown into that element. This movie would have worked better if it just started off with him going onto the island, but that's just me. Even I do not like Helen Hunt as an actress I thought she did a pretty good job in the movie, even though if she was in it less than 15 mins. This whole movie feels like it was written for Tom Hanks, and no one else. with little to no music, showing him in isolation where his only friend is a volleyball; ironically named 'Wilson', shows how far someone will go just to have someone to talk too. this movie was a little too long, but if it was too short it would not have been as moving or emotional as it was, it would have fallen short of what it was trying to do, tell a man's story of survival. I do wish I had watched this movie soon, because I feel like I had missed out one of Tom Hanks' best performances in the last 10 years, since that was the last time he got nominated for Best Actor. Tom Hanks deserves more roles where he can show off his acting ability to its full potential and this was one of them, I just hope we can see more of in sooner.
