My Review-

I have always heard about this documentary from the podcast's that I listen too from the same person that directed this documentary and other ones from the smodcast network, and I'am glad that I finally have seen it. Throughout this documentary we meet various homosexual couples or individuals and hear their stories about a gay bar they attended called "Rumors" and another bar called "Crossroads/Seasons". For me I saw them as normal people looking to have a good time at the only place they can that can which is that bar. In the documentary see various interviews about how people disapprove of their lifestyle and how it should be changed, especially a interview by Fred Phelps a well known person for having a hatred for almost everything. It also deals with the people struggling with the fact that people are ignorant about their lifestyle and cannot accept it. One part of the documentary deals with the brutal killing of a gay man, Scotty Joe Weaver. You can read more about it here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotty_Joe_Weaver. I really enjoyed this documentary for various reasons, for one I am a support for same sex marriage and for same sex couples. It still sad that people are denying these people happiness and causing trouble for them just because they want to go to a bar like normal people and have a drink and a good time. During the course of the documentary we got to know these individuals and have a better understanding of who they were as a person. And during this time we were able to see how they were outside of the time that they spent at the bar, and during the documentary for me I was able to get to know these people more even though I had never met them before I felt like I knew and understood these individuals more then what we see on the news and in other media. These people are not concerned about everything that is out their in the media, but more concerned with going to the bars and being stopped just because they are gay. At times some of the people will take it a little more light hearted than others and I guess that is what made them more interesting then they already were they were just trying to have fun with people who are like them and get away from everything. The only problem that I had with this documentary is that I wished it was a little longer than it was. Ingram did a really good job for one of his first documentaries that he made, and I look forward to watching his other one Bear Nation, that I have heard about. If you want to know more about the gay community or you are already accepting of their lifestyle they should have this documentary it is really a good perspective from actual individuals then in other media. This documentary also gives some light on different peoples opinions on how they do not like of they live, which is kind of retarded in my opinion, because some people are just arrogant and cannot except people for who they are.
