My Review-
I have seen some of this movie before, but just clips of it here and there, and never really got to finish watching it, I am glad that I finally got the chance to do so. I have never really seen Michael York as a main character, because I only really remember him from the Austin Powers film series, but seeing him in this was as the main character was pretty damn good. The first half of the movie it was made that you cannot stand his character and you do not like him, the second half is you basically rooting for him to finish what he had started. The only parts of the movie that I had found to be really boring, was when they met someone outside of the place that they had lived in. Since this was made in 1976 the effects were not to great but that's what made the movie just a little bit better since it seemed like whoever made it was still trying to make it believable in the year that the movie is supposed to take place in which is the year 2274. Now with rumors that director Nicholas Winding Refn wants to remake the film with Ryan Gosling in the title role, I would actually pay to see that new version of this movie, seeing is how Gosling is now a really good actor. However I am a little worried about if they can achieve or kind of keep the cheesiness of some of the scenes, other than that I am looking forward to the remake if it ever does happen. It seems like the best scenes in this movie were when York and Agutter were on the run to leave the place they were living in, once they got outside that is where it seemed to get kind of boring. All in all I did enjoy this film.
